We open in Paris – Gwen runs into the hospital and wants to see Sheridan, but she can’t and meets Jean-Luc. He is Sheridan’s boyfriend who fills Gwen in on the cooincidences regarding Sheridan and Princess Diana. Ethan calls, and Anna (me) FF’s
At the Lopez-Fitgerald’s house we see Luis and Miguel playing some hoops, and cut upstairs to Theresa’s room (which is covered in pictures of Ethan Crane cut out of society mags). She is so mad that she missed Ethan because she was arguing with some jerk about him ruining her shirt. We get treated again to hearing Whitney’s dream of being the best tennis player in the world. Whitney says maybe Theresa is living in a fantasy world (she IS). Whitney says she better take the Burger Hut job or find a job soon or else Luis will get her a job at the cannery. Until this moment.. I forgot about this particular storyline, and I am now looking forward to what’s coming! Luis can be heard arguing with Miguel.. If I say it’s a foul, it’s a foul. I feel like Luis is too bossy and too tyrannical, and I had forgotten this about his character. I may end up hating him by the end if he continues this behavior.
We move to the Bennett’s house where Eve, Grace, Sam, and TC discuss Grace’s recent “hallucinations”. Tabitha is sitting outside the kitchen window listening to the discussion, she tells us that only she and Grace can see the little angel girl. Tab then proceeds to remind us of her encounter with the little girl through a flashback. We are going to have many many flashbacks in this show – so be warned!! Sam seizes onto the excuse that Grace is overworked and overtired, and Eve offers to give her some pills, when Tabitha pops in with a plate of cookies wondering who is sick? She agrees a good night’s sleep will do the world of good and promptly leaves. TC says Tabitha is odd. They speculate on Tab’s age, and Sam says she seemed old when he was a kid. Good night he says and waves to Tab, who says he is wrong – it’s not going to be a good night at all.
Passions Song!!!
More gratuitous shots of Miguel and Luis shooting hoops. Theresa compares Luis to a pitbull, and I have to say I agree. She knows he won’t give up until he makes her take the job at Burger Hut. Whitney has a summer job at the country club giving tennis lessons to kids. Theresa is jealous and has dreamed of going to the country club. Whitney asks what is the point of dreaming all these fantasies. Theresa thought she might get a job at Lowell’s the most exclusive store in town, but they wouldn’t hire her because they didn’t think she was good enough. Mama Lopez-Fitzgerald comes in. Theresa forgot to make supper, but gets excited to get some nail polish from Mrs. Crane and society magazines that she was throwing out. Whitney notices a troubled look on Pilar’s face, and she fills them in on Sheridan’s accident, which of course cues us to Paris and the usual FF.
We are in Sam and Grace’s bedroom. Grace is drowsily resting on the bed, presumably having taken whatever drugs Dr. Eve is illegally giving her out of a prescription bottle. Eve and Sam discuss Grace. Eve says that Grace is so busy with the house, the store, and now the carnival and she needs rest. Sam says she won’t slow down and they again discuss Grace’s amnesia. Obviously the amnesia is going to play a HUGE part in Grace’s story. It has been mentioned dozens of times and we are only on show 4. Grace realizes they are talking about her and calls Sam over to the bed, where he tells her how much he loves her. Eve has an old fashioned Dr.’s bag with her and is closing it up when she looks out the window and spies Tabitha sewing on Timmy in her house. Tabitha says it won’t be long now Timmy the really big show should be starting any minute.
In Paris, Gwen makes a cell phone call (from inside the hospital – ugh) to Ethan letting him know that Sheridan is stabilized.. we get our first hint that Jean-Luc is an ass when he leaves Sheridan’s bedside while she is still unconscious and not out of real danger for possibly hours. Ethan still hasn’t told his parents yet. Jean-Luc makes a call to Mimi his love saying he is all hers tonight – ALL night and he makes kissy noises at the phone. UGH
TC, Sam, and Eve discuss Grace again. They wonder if the voice and the little girl are connected to Grace’s mysterious past. Sam talks about how much he loves her and he has always been afraid that he wasn’t meant to have her for long. Eve reassures him that NOTHING will come between them. Upstairs in the bedroom we see Grace laying in bed asleep and sweep across the room and the window magically opens and Grace levitates right the fuck off her bed! Grace is haunted by a serious poltergeist, it seems. Tabitha senses it while sewing on Timmy and campily cackles that it is beginning and nothing on earth can stop it!
At the Lopez-Fitgerald house Pilar is making supper and Luis and Miguel come in bantering about their game. Pilar says she missed her bus and that is why she is late getting home. As a Maine girl, this one made me chuckle – Lewiston/Auburn and Portland have public buses, but the rest of Maine has these little half bus/vans that only run during the day and only make certain stops – and little towns have NO buses. BUT, back to the story. 😉 Luis is sarcastic about what Pilar’s extra duties may have been, but she reassures him that Mrs. Crane is very nice; she even gave Theresa a bottle of nail polish and some magazines. Luis thinks the magazines are filling Theresa’s head with wishes and dreams that she will never have, and then he notices that it is Theresa’s turn to cook, but Pilar is doing it instead. He realizes that she forgot again and goes to talk to her. He has an attitude that I just don’t like at all. Miguel wonders if she will listen. Theresa is upstairs painting her nails with her new polish and hanging with Whitney. She really prefers the society magazines because she thinks they will help her when she marries Ethan Crane. She opens one and sees a picture of the Cranes including Ethan. Luis comes storming in without knocking. He looks PISSED off.
At the Crane mansion Ethan is thanking Gwen for staying with Sheridan when we hear a man and woman arguing very loudly. Ethan tells Gwen his parents are home and asks her to call him as soon as there is any news. I love you too Gwen he says. Ivy appears dressed in red, and I have to say she looks divine as she greets her darling Ethan, asking him why he wasn’t at the Historical Society Fundraiser. She and Julian bicker over the her not consulting him about a large pledge that she made, and she says that it is Adele Hawthorne’s pet project to which Julian retorts that he got her husband elected Governor and he thinks that is enough, meanwhile Ethan says he has something to say and the bickering continues with him dragging her to Galveston being business and it’s different than her dragging him to these Society gatherings. Ethan yells for them to both listen to him, which ends the arguing and begs the question, is something the matter darling from Ivy. Yes, I have terrible news about Sheridan he says and we don’t hear it because we cut to..
The Bennett house, where Sam is coming in the front door as he walks the Russell’s out to their car? Jessica comes down and he tells her that he is worried about her mom, Grace. He wants her to get a goodnight’s sleep. WE know that she isn’t going to because now we move upstairs where Grace is still levitating OUT THE 2ND STORY WINDOW??? Uhm that’s just a tad freaky, huh? We see Angel Girl swinging in the backyard. For an angel, she isn’t very good.. she just basically scares the piss out of Grace and threatens Tabitha.. a good angel wouldn’t make Grace think she was going crazy, now would she?? Grace floats down to the little angel girl while Tabitha sits in her house watching her neighbor float through the air. Is it a bird? No. Is it a plane? No. It’s my neighbor Grace Bennett flying out of her bedroom window she says to Timmy the doll. She laughs and then seriously says it is no laughing matter. She predicts this is the beginning of the end. She says a lot of lives and souls will be destroyed because of what is happening right now.
At the Lopez-Fitgerald house Theresa asks Luis if he ever heard of knocking. Luis gives her crap for acting out her fantasies instead of cooking supper, which reminds Whitney she needs to go home now. Luis laughs when Theresa tells him to be careful of her nails. She would love him better if he would stop yelling at her all the time. Luis tells her he worries about her, and that her dreams just aren’t going to happen. She asks if he thinks she is only good enough to be a maid, like Mama and he says NO. He just wants her to get a good life through hard work. He tells her that he used to dream of being a lawyer, but he gave up his dreams so he could take care of the family because they needed money and couldn’t live on Mama’s salary from the Cranes. She says it isn’t fair that he gave up his dreams for them. He tells her to stop dreaming the impossible before she gets hurt.
At the Crane mansion, Julian asks what kind of trouble is Sheridan in this time. Ethan gives them the details of Sheridan’s accident and tells them she is in the hospital. Julian asks if she was drinking, as he is holding a liquor decanter in hand. Ethan can’t believe he asked that, to which Julian asks “Why not, it’s a perfectly reasonable question?” Ethan goes off about only in this family, any normal brother would ask if their sister was alright, and so Julian does. Ethan then fills them in on the details. Julian wants to make sure she does get the best of care, which Ethan reassures him about and tells them Gwen is in Paris with her now. Julian decides not to worry as the hospital will call if there is any change. This makes Ethan realize why Sheridan never comes home, and Julian asks what? Ethan says he is going to Paris in the morning, but Julian forbids it. He makes Ethan stay home to work on the Hotchkiss business which he is in charge of, and that is final. They make the ironic connection between her and Princess Diana, GAH I can’t WAIT for this story to drop. Julian says the situation is a PR nightmare and decides to try to do some damage control and comments that on his father not being amused by the situation. Ethan can’t believe that his father only cares about the bad press when Sheridan could be dying. Ivy says she is sure he is concerned about her, but Ethan wonders why he doesn’t show it. He wonders why their family behaves as though affection and love are weaknesses or something. Ivy says she thinks it takes more strength to NOT show emotions sometimes, and then reassures Ethan that no matter what ever happens to never doubt her love for him. She is hugging him and telling him that he is her main love.
At the Bennett house we are again reminded of Grace’s amnesia. Jessica is holding a box which is apparently the Bennett family archives and Sam asks her what she is doing with them. She says her friend’s parents had a family tree made. Jessica decided to make one and wanted to talk to mom. She says it must be weird to not know about yourself. Jessica, you have known your mother your entire life and you KNOW that she can’t remember anything before she met your dad, so why on earth would you ask her about her family? You are dumb girl. DUMB. Back to the show – All of a sudden she get’s a strange feeling. Okay, so now we have TWO Bennett females who are having “feelings”. Hmm.. is this maybe a trend?? We see Tabitha watching as Grace floats through the air and moves into a vertical position as she moves closer to the ground. Tabitha decides she has to see what is going on next door. Grace makes landfall with her feet, and the creepy Angel Girl tells her to open her eyes as they have a lot to talk about. Grace opens her eyes and looks around frightened.
Back to Theresa’s bedroom with her and Luis. It’s almost time to eat, and Theresa wonders if he still dreams of going to college. He tells her that he is dreaming of food. She wants to know why he never discusses how he feels and why he has to be so macho. He is sarcastic and says he is who he is and that isn’t going to change. She tells him he better if he ever wants to find a girl and settle down. They discuss his past reputation as a Don Juan at the local high school and he says he just hasn’t met the right woman yet. He tells her his love life isn’t her concern and she says, but it is alright for you to ask me a ton of questions about all those guys I’ve been out with. (She has a good point, except he is acting as her father – even if I think he is an overbearing fatherly figure, and a complete caveman to boot). He says she is too young to get involved, and she tells him not to worry she will still be able to wear white on her wedding day, because she isn’t going to waste her time on the immature boys at school. The first time she makes love – she wants everything to be perfect like a soap opera. Rose petals, candles, champagne. He doesn’t care as long as she has her marriage license first. Luis and she start to go down to help Mama, and she says she supposes that her dream of Ethan Crane showing up at her front door to sweep her off her feet won’t happen tonight anyways. Luis assures her that it that Ethan won’t show up ever!
So I have to rant now. I realize this is a soap opera and there is a “faith” vs “evil” element to this show. I do truly LOVE this show, even on a second viewing. HOWEVER, the whole virginity story they got going on here is going to PISS me off and you will be hearing more on this subject in the future. I can see why Theresa who is still in HS and is dreaming of an older unreachable guy is fantasizing about staying a virgin until her wedding night, and the romance she has dreamed up. I find it completely unrealistic as I don’t know very many people who actually waited until their wedding night, and even fewer who had the whole flowers, champagne, and candles scenario going when they lost their virginity. We are not that far into the show, but uhm Don Juan is insisting his little sister remain pure.. but is he?? Luis’s attitude towards his little sister and her virginity are in a word MEDIEVAL.
Next scene is Pilar and Miguel downstairs in the kitchen. She is tasting something on the stove and then tells Miguel it is perfect. He beams and thinks he is getting pretty good at cooking. Pilar says he is and reminds him that it is important that he and Luis learn to cook so they can help their future wives. She reminds Miguel that women today expect that. He asks her if Papa ever used to help her with cooking and she says it was a different time. She talks about him and her memories of him, and then lights two candles. She prays that god keeps her husband and son Antonio safe and lights their way home. You can tell she is sad and worried, as Miguel looks on. She tells him to wash up and she will finish dinner, but he turns on the radio and convinces her to dance with him. They are dancing the Samba when Luis and Theresa walk in on their Fiesta celebrating the best Mama in the world.
Back at the Crane Mansion Ivy and and Ethan discuss the Crane family. She tells him that she is sure Julian does care about Sheridan. She tells Ethan that an open show of affection is not a Crane family tradition, but he is the heir and they can remake the family into a happy loving family. He asks her if she is happy and has love and she says of COURSE, she is Mrs. Julian Crane and has all that goes with that. She has FOUR children doesn’t she? Julian comes in and has convinced the papers to keep the accident quiet. Ethan wonders if he would try to keep her death out of the papers too. Julian rummages in a drawer and says he will ask the police to keep a lookout for foreign reporters, so he will call Sam Bennett. A glass shatters and we see Ivy looking disturbed. Huh, what could that mean??
At the Bennett’s Jessica has the archives scattered across the coffee table as she and Sam discuss their family history. We learn they have lived there for hundreds of years, almost from the beginning of the town. Grandpa was an important businessman and landowner until the Depression when he had to sell all his land and businesses to – you guessed it the Cranes who took their land. The phone rings, and it is Julian with first his congratulations on making chief of police, and he tells Sam that he was one of his biggest supporters when his name came up. He can’t remember Sam’s wife’s name and stalls when he is saying how proud she must be of him and asks how she is. Sam says she is Grace and she is just fine. SAM she is NOT fine – she is outside with the creepy angel girl who made her float out of her room and into the backyard!! Which is the next scene of COURSE! Grace is wondering HOW she got to the backyard, who the little girl is and WHY she is haunting her? AHHHHH so many questions!?! The little angel girl has a message, but Grace just wants to be left alone, but it seems like she can’t move? She questions the little girl and wants to know what kind of game she is playing with her? Grace, this isn’t a game – you are either going crazy or you have a serious poltergeist on your hands. The creepy angel tells her that it isn’t a game and important things are beginning to happen in Harmony and elsewhere too, and all leading up to a momentous event in Harmony. Grace doesn’t understand how or why it concerns her since she doesn’t know who she is. Angel girl warns her that evil is coming towards them right now, as we see Tabitha sneaking around the hedges trying to see what is happening. Angel girl tells Grace that all the souls of those she loves are at stake. Grace calls for Sam to help her.
Luis, Theresa, Pilar, and Miguel are eating supper. Pilar tells them Miguel helped make it. There is some great family banter, but Luis looks preoccupied. He says he has talked to the bank about the mortgage, and Pilar worries they are late making payment again. They aren’t, but the interest rate is very high, and she should get a new mortgage. She can’t refinance the house without having Papa declared legally dead and his name taken off the deed. She refuses to give up hope that he is coming home. Luis says he has abandoned them so it’s grounds for a divorce, but Pilar will NOT consider this. Theresa comforts Mama, while Luis tells Miguel that she has to do something to save money so she can retire from the Cranes.
Julian is asking Sam for that favor. We see Ivy in the foreground obviously listening in and looking VERY affected by Julian talking to Chief Bennett. Ethan walks in the background after having cleaned up his mothers broken glass and presumably taking care of the debris. Sam tells Julian that he will let him know of any press coming to town. Sam tells him that he will do his best to serve ALL the citizens of Harmony. They disconnect and Julian wonders if Sam Bennett will tow the line, and maybe he isn’t the man for the job after all. He asks Ivy if she ever met Sam Bennett their new Chief of Police, and she unconvincingly says no, but Julian is too distracted getting a drink to realize that she is lying. He has business calls to make, and Ethan who has been lurking in the corner returns to his mother’s side giving her a questioning look and wonders why she was so interested in the call to Chief Bennet.
Sam asks Jessica if she heard shouting, and she thinks maybe it was a kid or something. He goes to look. Grace in the backyard has the angel telling her not to shout. Grace says everyone tells her she isn’t real, yet she can see her. She doesn’t understand, she is scared, and she just wants to go back inside. Creepy angel girls says she will, but first she has something to tell her – we see Tabitha gleefully say finally now I’ll find out what she is up to.
That’s it for this one folks. The story hasn’t progressed much. We have seen Timmy in parts and Tabitha putting the finishing touches on him, so Timmy will be here soon! I have to confess that I have currently watched through episode 154. Some of the stories really drag, and it takes me about two hours to do the recap. I wanted to have some story under my belt before I came back and did more of these, mostly because I found things that I had completely forgotten and got caught up in the stories.
