Passions Episode 4

Passions Episode 4

We open in Paris – Gwen runs into the hospital and wants to see Sheridan, but she can’t and meets Jean-Luc.  He is Sheridan’s boyfriend who fills Gwen in on the cooincidences regarding Sheridan and Princess Diana.  Ethan calls, and Anna (me) FF’s

At the Lopez-Fitgerald’s house we see Luis and Miguel playing some hoops, and cut upstairs to Theresa’s room (which is covered in pictures of Ethan Crane cut out of society mags).  She is so mad that she missed Ethan because she was arguing with some jerk about him ruining her shirt.  We get treated again to hearing Whitney’s dream of being the best tennis player in the world.  Whitney says maybe Theresa is living in a fantasy world (she IS). Whitney says she better take the Burger Hut job or find a job soon or else Luis will get her a job at the cannery.  Until this moment.. I forgot about this particular storyline, and I am now looking forward to what’s coming!  Luis can be heard arguing with Miguel.. If I say it’s a foul, it’s a foul.  I feel like Luis is too bossy and too tyrannical, and I had forgotten this about his character.  I may end up hating him by the end if he continues this behavior.

We move to the Bennett’s house where Eve, Grace, Sam, and TC discuss Grace’s recent “hallucinations”.  Tabitha is sitting outside the kitchen window listening to the discussion, she tells us that only she and Grace can see the little angel girl.  Tab then proceeds to remind us of her encounter with the little girl through a flashback.  We are going to have many many flashbacks in this show – so be warned!!  Sam seizes onto the excuse that Grace is overworked and overtired, and Eve offers to give her some pills, when Tabitha pops in with a plate of cookies wondering who is sick?  She agrees a good night’s sleep will do the world of good and promptly leaves.  TC says Tabitha is odd.  They speculate on Tab’s age, and Sam says she seemed old when he was a kid.  Good night he says and waves to Tab, who says he is wrong – it’s not going to be a good night at all.

Passions Song!!!

More gratuitous shots of Miguel and Luis shooting hoops.  Theresa compares Luis to a pitbull, and I have to say I agree.  She knows he won’t give up until he makes her take the job at Burger Hut.  Whitney has a summer job at the country club giving tennis lessons to kids.  Theresa is jealous and has dreamed of going to the country club.  Whitney asks what is the point of dreaming all these fantasies.  Theresa thought she might get a job at Lowell’s the most exclusive store in town, but they wouldn’t hire her because they didn’t think she was good enough.  Mama Lopez-Fitzgerald comes in.  Theresa forgot to make supper, but gets excited to get some nail polish from Mrs. Crane and society magazines that she was throwing out.  Whitney notices a troubled look on Pilar’s face, and she fills them in on Sheridan’s accident, which of course cues us to Paris and the usual FF.

We are in Sam and Grace’s bedroom.  Grace is drowsily resting on the bed, presumably having taken whatever drugs Dr. Eve is illegally giving her out of a prescription bottle.  Eve and Sam discuss Grace.  Eve says that Grace is so busy with the house, the store, and now the carnival and she needs rest.  Sam says she won’t slow down and they again discuss Grace’s amnesia.  Obviously the amnesia is going to play a HUGE part in Grace’s story.  It has been mentioned dozens of times and we are only on show 4.  Grace realizes they are talking about her and calls Sam over to the bed, where he tells her how much he loves her.  Eve has an old fashioned Dr.’s bag with her and is closing it up when she looks out the window and spies Tabitha sewing on Timmy in her house.  Tabitha says it won’t be long now Timmy the really big show should be starting any minute.

In Paris, Gwen makes a cell phone call (from inside the hospital – ugh) to Ethan letting him know that Sheridan is stabilized.. we get our first hint that Jean-Luc is an ass when he leaves Sheridan’s bedside while she is still unconscious and not out of real danger for possibly hours.  Ethan still hasn’t told his parents yet.  Jean-Luc makes a call to Mimi his love saying he is all hers tonight – ALL night and he makes kissy noises at the phone.  UGH

TC, Sam, and Eve discuss Grace again.  They wonder if the voice and the little girl are connected to Grace’s mysterious past.  Sam talks about how much he loves her and he has always been afraid that he wasn’t meant to have her for long.  Eve reassures him that NOTHING will come between them.  Upstairs in the bedroom we see Grace laying in bed asleep and sweep across the room and the window magically opens and Grace levitates right the fuck off her bed!  Grace is haunted by a serious poltergeist, it seems.  Tabitha senses it while sewing on Timmy and campily cackles that it is beginning and nothing on earth can stop it!

At the Lopez-Fitgerald house Pilar is making supper and Luis and Miguel come in bantering about their game.  Pilar says she missed her bus and that is why she is late getting home.  As a Maine girl, this one made me chuckle – Lewiston/Auburn and Portland have public buses, but the rest of Maine has these little half bus/vans that only run during the day and only make certain stops – and little towns have NO buses.  BUT, back to the story. 😉 Luis is sarcastic about what Pilar’s extra duties may have been, but she reassures him that Mrs. Crane is very nice; she even gave Theresa a bottle of nail polish and some magazines.  Luis thinks the magazines are filling Theresa’s head with wishes and dreams that she will never have, and then he notices that it is Theresa’s turn to cook, but Pilar is doing it instead.  He realizes that she forgot again and goes to talk to her.  He has an attitude that I just don’t like at all.  Miguel wonders if she will listen.  Theresa is upstairs painting her nails with her new polish and hanging with Whitney.  She really prefers the society magazines because she thinks they will help her when she marries Ethan Crane.  She opens one and sees a picture of the Cranes including Ethan.  Luis comes storming in without knocking.  He looks PISSED off.

At the Crane mansion Ethan is thanking Gwen for staying with Sheridan when we hear a man and woman arguing very loudly.  Ethan tells Gwen his parents are home and asks her to call him as soon as there is any news.  I love you too Gwen he says.  Ivy appears dressed in red, and I have to say she looks divine as she greets her darling Ethan, asking him why he wasn’t at the Historical Society Fundraiser. She and Julian bicker over the her not consulting him about a large pledge that she made, and she says that it is Adele Hawthorne’s pet project to which Julian retorts that he got her husband elected Governor and he thinks that is enough, meanwhile Ethan says he has something to say and the bickering continues with him dragging her to Galveston being business and it’s different than her dragging him to these Society gatherings.  Ethan yells for them to both listen to him, which ends the arguing and begs the question, is something the matter darling from Ivy.  Yes, I have terrible news about Sheridan he says and we don’t hear it because we cut to..

The Bennett house, where Sam is coming in the front door as he walks the Russell’s out to their car?  Jessica comes down and he tells her that he is worried about her mom, Grace.  He wants her to get a goodnight’s sleep.  WE know that she isn’t going to because now we move upstairs where Grace is still levitating OUT THE 2ND STORY WINDOW???  Uhm that’s just a tad freaky, huh?  We see Angel Girl swinging in the backyard.  For an angel, she isn’t very good.. she just basically scares the piss out of Grace and threatens Tabitha.. a good angel wouldn’t make Grace think she was going crazy, now would she??  Grace floats down to the little angel girl while Tabitha sits in her house watching her neighbor float through the air.  Is it a bird? No. Is it a plane? No. It’s my neighbor Grace Bennett flying out of her bedroom window she says to Timmy the doll.  She laughs and then seriously says it is no laughing matter.  She predicts this is the beginning of the end.  She says a lot of lives and souls will be destroyed because of what is happening right now.

At the Lopez-Fitgerald house Theresa asks Luis if he ever heard of knocking.  Luis gives her crap for acting out her fantasies instead of cooking supper, which reminds Whitney she needs to go home now.  Luis laughs when Theresa tells him to be careful of her nails.  She would love him better if he would stop yelling at her all the time.  Luis tells her he worries about her, and that her dreams just aren’t going to happen.  She asks if he thinks she is only good enough to be a maid, like Mama and he says NO.  He just wants her to get a good life through hard work.  He tells her that he used to dream of being a lawyer, but he gave up his dreams so he could take care of the family because they needed money and couldn’t live on Mama’s salary from the Cranes.  She says it isn’t fair that he gave up his dreams for them.  He tells her to stop dreaming the impossible before she gets hurt.

At the Crane mansion, Julian asks what kind of trouble is Sheridan in this time.  Ethan gives them the details of Sheridan’s accident and tells them she is in the hospital.  Julian asks if she was drinking, as he is holding a liquor decanter in hand.  Ethan can’t believe he asked that, to which Julian asks “Why not, it’s a perfectly reasonable question?”  Ethan goes off about only in this family, any normal brother would ask if their sister was alright, and so Julian does.  Ethan then fills them in on the details.  Julian wants to make sure she does get the best of care, which Ethan reassures him about and tells them Gwen is in Paris with her now.  Julian decides not to worry as the hospital will call if there is any change.  This makes Ethan realize why Sheridan never comes home, and Julian asks what?  Ethan says he is going to Paris in the morning, but Julian forbids it.  He makes Ethan stay home to work on the Hotchkiss business which he is in charge of, and that is final.  They make the ironic connection between her and Princess Diana, GAH I can’t WAIT for this story to drop.  Julian says the situation is a PR nightmare and decides to try to do some damage control and comments that on his father not being amused by the situation.  Ethan can’t believe that his father only cares about the bad press when Sheridan could be dying.  Ivy says she is sure he is concerned about her, but Ethan wonders why he doesn’t show it.  He wonders why their family behaves as though affection and love are weaknesses or something.  Ivy says she thinks it takes more strength to NOT show emotions sometimes, and then reassures Ethan that no matter what ever happens to never doubt her love for him.  She is hugging him and telling him that he is her main love.

At the Bennett house we are again reminded of Grace’s amnesia.  Jessica is holding a box which is apparently the Bennett family archives and Sam asks her what she is doing with them.  She says her friend’s parents had a family tree made.  Jessica decided to make one and wanted to talk to mom.  She says it must be weird to not know about yourself.  Jessica, you have known your mother your entire life and you KNOW that she can’t remember anything before she met your dad, so why on earth would you ask her about her family?  You are dumb girl.  DUMB.  Back to the show – All of a sudden she get’s a strange feeling.  Okay, so now we have TWO Bennett females who are having “feelings”.  Hmm.. is this maybe a trend??  We see Tabitha watching as Grace floats through the air and moves into a vertical position as she moves closer to the ground.  Tabitha decides she has to see what is going on next door.  Grace makes landfall with her feet, and the creepy Angel Girl tells her to open her eyes as they have a lot to talk about.  Grace opens her eyes and looks around frightened.

Back to Theresa’s bedroom with her and Luis.  It’s almost time to eat, and Theresa wonders if he still dreams of going to college.  He tells her that he is dreaming of food.  She wants to know why he never discusses how he feels and why he has to be so macho.  He is sarcastic and says he is who he is and that isn’t going to change.  She tells him he better if he ever wants to find a girl and settle down.  They discuss his past reputation as a Don Juan at the local high school and he says he just hasn’t met the right woman yet.  He tells her his love life isn’t her concern and she says, but it is alright for you to ask me a ton of questions about all those guys I’ve been out with.  (She has a good point, except he is acting as her father – even if I think he is an overbearing fatherly figure, and a complete caveman to boot).  He says she is too young to get involved, and she tells him not to worry she will still be able to wear white on her wedding day, because she isn’t going to waste her time on the immature boys at school.  The first time she makes love – she wants everything to be perfect like a soap opera.  Rose petals, candles, champagne.  He doesn’t care as long as she has her marriage license first.   Luis and she start to go down to help Mama, and she says she supposes that her dream of Ethan Crane showing up at her front door to sweep her off her feet won’t happen tonight anyways.  Luis assures her that it that Ethan won’t show up ever!

So I have to rant now.  I realize this is a soap opera and there is a “faith” vs “evil” element to this show.  I do truly LOVE this show, even on a second viewing.  HOWEVER, the whole virginity story they got going on here is going to PISS me off and you will be hearing more on this subject in the future.  I can see why Theresa who is still in HS and is dreaming of an older unreachable guy is fantasizing about staying a virgin until her wedding night, and the romance she has dreamed up.  I find it completely unrealistic as I don’t know very many people who actually waited until their wedding night, and even fewer who had the whole flowers, champagne, and candles scenario going when they lost their virginity.  We are not that far into the show, but uhm Don Juan is insisting his little sister remain pure.. but is he??  Luis’s attitude towards his little sister and her virginity are in a word MEDIEVAL.

Next scene is Pilar and Miguel downstairs in the kitchen.  She is tasting something on the stove and then tells Miguel it is perfect.  He beams and thinks he is getting pretty good at cooking.  Pilar says he is and reminds him that it is important that he and Luis learn to cook so they can help their future wives.  She reminds Miguel that women today expect that.  He asks her if Papa ever used to help her with cooking and she says it was a different time.  She talks about him and her memories of him, and then lights two candles.  She prays that god keeps her husband and son Antonio safe and lights their way home.  You can tell she is sad and worried, as Miguel looks on.  She tells him to wash up and she will finish dinner, but he turns on the radio and convinces her to dance with him.  They are dancing the Samba when Luis and Theresa walk in on their Fiesta celebrating the best Mama in the world.

Back at the Crane Mansion Ivy and and Ethan discuss the Crane family.  She tells him that she is sure Julian does care about Sheridan.  She tells Ethan that an open show of affection is not a Crane family tradition, but he is the heir and they can remake the family into a happy loving family.  He asks her if she is happy and has love and she says of COURSE, she is Mrs. Julian Crane and has all that goes with that.  She has FOUR children doesn’t she?  Julian comes in and has convinced the papers to keep the accident quiet.  Ethan wonders if he would try to keep her death out of the papers too.  Julian rummages in a drawer and says he will ask the police to keep a lookout for foreign reporters, so he will call Sam Bennett.  A glass shatters and we see Ivy looking disturbed.  Huh, what could that mean??

At the Bennett’s Jessica has the archives scattered across the coffee table as she and Sam discuss their family history.  We learn they have lived there for hundreds of years, almost from the beginning of the town.  Grandpa was an important businessman and landowner until the Depression when he had to sell all his land and businesses to – you guessed it the Cranes who took their land.  The phone rings, and it is Julian with first his congratulations on making chief of police, and he tells Sam that he was one of his biggest supporters when his name came up.  He can’t remember Sam’s wife’s name and stalls when he is saying how proud she must be of him and asks how she is.  Sam says she is Grace and she is just fine.  SAM she is NOT fine – she is outside with the creepy angel girl who made her float out of her room and into the backyard!!  Which is the next scene of COURSE!  Grace is wondering HOW she got to the backyard, who the little girl is and WHY she is haunting her?  AHHHHH so many questions!?!  The little angel girl has a message, but Grace just wants to be left alone, but it seems like she can’t move?  She questions the little girl and wants to know what kind of game she is playing with her?  Grace, this isn’t a game – you are either going crazy or you have a serious poltergeist on your hands.  The creepy angel tells her that it isn’t a game and important things are beginning to happen in Harmony and elsewhere too, and all leading up to a momentous event in Harmony.  Grace doesn’t understand how or why it concerns her since she doesn’t know who she is.  Angel girl warns her that evil is coming towards them right now, as we see Tabitha sneaking around the hedges trying to see what is happening.  Angel girl tells Grace that all the souls of those she loves are at stake.  Grace calls for Sam to help her.

Luis, Theresa, Pilar, and Miguel are eating supper.  Pilar tells them Miguel helped make it.  There is some great family banter, but Luis looks preoccupied.  He says he has talked to the bank about the mortgage, and Pilar worries they are late making payment again.  They aren’t, but the interest rate is very high, and she should get a new mortgage.  She can’t refinance the house without having Papa declared legally dead and his name taken off the deed.  She refuses to give up hope that he is coming home.  Luis says he has abandoned them so it’s grounds for a divorce, but Pilar will NOT consider this.  Theresa comforts Mama, while Luis tells Miguel that she has to do something to save money so she can retire from the Cranes.

Julian is asking Sam for that favor.  We see Ivy in the foreground obviously listening in and looking VERY affected by Julian talking to Chief Bennett.  Ethan walks in the background after having cleaned up his mothers broken glass and presumably taking care of the debris.  Sam tells Julian that he will let him know of any press coming to town.  Sam tells him that he will do his best to serve ALL the citizens of Harmony.  They disconnect and Julian wonders if Sam Bennett will tow the line, and maybe he isn’t the man for the job after all.  He asks Ivy if she ever met Sam Bennett their new Chief of Police, and she unconvincingly says no, but Julian is too distracted getting a drink to realize that she is lying.  He has business calls to make, and Ethan who has been lurking in the corner returns to his mother’s side giving her a questioning look and wonders why she was so interested in the call to Chief Bennet.

Sam asks Jessica if she heard shouting, and she thinks maybe it was a kid or something.  He goes to look.  Grace in the backyard has the angel telling her not to shout.  Grace says everyone tells her she isn’t real, yet she can see her.  She doesn’t understand, she is scared, and she just wants to go back inside.  Creepy angel girls says she will, but first she has something to tell her – we see Tabitha gleefully say finally now I’ll find out what she is up to.

That’s it for this one folks.  The story hasn’t progressed much.  We have seen Timmy in parts and Tabitha putting the finishing touches on him, so Timmy will be here soon!  I have to confess that I have currently watched through episode 154.  Some of the stories really drag, and it takes me about two hours to do the recap.  I wanted to have some story under my belt before I came back and did more of these, mostly because I found things that I had completely forgotten and got caught up in the stories.

Passions Episode 3

Passions Episode 3

We open at the Carnival with Kay and Simone discussing what Jessica did with the sign.  Immature threats are made while they are looking for Jessica. Jessica says Kay should tell him herself he is right behind her.. Kay says yeah right, but he is there.  This story is already getting on my nerves, but it’s Jessica that is really getting on my nerves.

Eve is going to tell Sam about Grace, but TC and Grace walk up.  Grace is going to get poster board and Sam offers to go with her, but she is fine and insists that she is fine to go by herself.  NOW Eve tells Sam about the hallucination and even TC thinks maybe her memory is coming back.  Sam wonders if Grace is afraid those missing years will come back to haunt her.. uhm I am thinking maybe they will?

Luis reminds Theresa that she is just dreaming and to stop.  He wants to talk to her about the job that he got her, but he will do it later.  Theresa still won’t paint because she is going to wear THAT outfit to meet Ethan.  Yes girl, we know.. Whitney is going to get smocks and we see Ethan in the background while Theresa is in the foreground next to a ladder looking dreamily at Ethan in the Society pages.  Oh, I can’t guess what is coming, can you??  She is so into the magazine that she doesn’t notice Ethan standing under the paint.. and we go to Paris and Sheridan which I am FF through (if you don’t know why – see the first episode review).

Passions Song!!

Carnival in Harmony with Jess, Kay, Simone, and Miguel.  Jess offers to help Miguel and Simone says they have other stuff to do.  Kay says oh no you ruined my chance to be with Miguel and she worries will Jess say something?  I want to get past this crap already!!

Ethan walks right under the paint and Theresa walks backward into the ladder, and disaster.. but hey she DID meet Ethan wearing that outfit!!  Cue a dramatic look and Ethan the smurf.

Sam and Eve discuss Grace – and she says that maybe her past is affecting her but it is probably overwork.  She advises trying to get her to slow down, and we see Tab the eavesdropper who warns ominously that Sam should be worried about Grace as she cackles evilly.  I love Juliet Mills as Tabitha she is AWESOME!!

Grace is at the school getting poster board – apparently it is fine to go into the local HS and take their supplies in Harmony – especially if you are the wife of the chief of police??  BUT here we get some more Angel girl..she says not again and drops her poster board.

Sheridan in Paris – FF because this is REALLY stupid

Whitney has smocks and gets drinks for her and Theresa from Miguel, and they discuss Theresa and her dreams of meeting Ethan Crane and marring him.. they laugh but Luis is an asshole and insists that she will never meet Ethan.. cut to Theresa and Ethan meeting.. and she says oh my did I do that, he is kinda snotty and says I don’t see anyone else here, and she says she didn’t see the ladder, and their interaction isn’t love at first sight for sure.. as Theresa doesn’t even recognize him.. he says get me a rag.. and she tells him to get a rag for himself, and THEN he grabs her by the arm HEY he yells.  This isn’t looking good for them, huh??

TC gets Eve and Sam coffee and comes up to them, and he is worrying about Grace wishing he KNEW what was bothering her.  Meanwhile Grace is hearing the little girl and wondering why she is haunting her.. what do you want from me.  This is pitiful.. she is so afraid

Paris – Sheridan FF

Luis is going to make Theresa take that job whether she wants it or not (Luis flashback to beach with Ethan and Gwen) and tells Miguel and Whitney that he almost arrested Ethan Crane and his girlfriend – Luis has a major attitude about the Cranes and Whitney says Theresa won’t believe it when she tells her, Luis says the society mags are the only place she will ever see him because Cranes don’t mingle with peasants..

Ethan and Theresa – he looks like a smurf and she laments her sweater that he ruined when he touched her.  He is a smartass about her sweater, and she calls him an idiot.  It is actually a funny scene.. she threatens to have him arrested and he says maybe they will cart her off to the loony bin where she belongs, What she gasps

Sam can’t find Jess, but Kay assures him she will look out for her little sister.. and he discusses Grace and her hallucinations, he decides to see what is keeping Grace at the school, where we see her acting soooo scared and she can’t get out.. UGH the acting is horrid.. Angel girl has come for her.  Grace says she has heard her voice so many times through the years.. how come she is appearing now.. she said she wouldn’t do that until it is time and that she should be prepared.. is it time, time for what??  Am I going to die she asks fearfully.. So let me get this straight.. you have heard voices for years and you are JUST now wondering why?? A male hand grabs Grace’s shoulder and she screams

Luis, Miguel and Whitney – Miguel asks Luis if he is being hard on Ethan, he met him once and he was nice.  Whitney asks how and Miguel says once with Mama.. oh that’s right Mama works for the Cranes for years says Whitney – who reminded Theresa of the fact several times already!!  She’s their housekeeper and Whitney is Theresa’s best friend and has already reminded Theresa of this fact, but she says hasn’t she as an OBVIOUS question.. UGH.  Maybe it is because I know the story so well that these little things are bugging me because I don’t remember being bugged about it the first time.. re-watch problems, huh?  Luis is just no no no Cranes suck they are evil.

Meanwhile Theresa isn’t making a very good first impression, she is worried about her sweater instead of smurf dude and blames him for the mishap.  She accuses him of being rude and he says all you care about is a little spot on your stupid little sweater.  He says the cops are as crazy as she is.  Whitney walks up and Theresa laments that she can’t wear it to meet Ethan Crane.. Whitney tells Theresa that Luis almost arrested Ethan Crane today, Ethan at his car calls Theresa a LUNATIC!  I actually LOVED these scenes. Gwench calls Ethan from the Concorde and acts weird about calling from the plane.. hahaha she wants to see how he is making out and asks him if he got a wild welcome.  He hopes Sheridan doesn’t give her the kind of welcome he got.

Sheridan – more Diana comparison FF

Ethan must have told Gwen what happened and she laughs at him.  He says it is her fault.  She is after that RING hard, ugh.  They mention the Cranes and the three centuries they have lived in Maine.  Ethan says if this girl is any example he is all set, and he begins to wonder if because he is a Crane and did she do it on purpose.. Gwen is sure it is an accident.

Theresa is desperate to hear from Luis about his encounter with Ethan and he looks over and sees Ethan leaving in his car.  Theresa believes she missed him!

Eve and TC are setting up and he knows she is worried about Grace, Tabitha says she knows what is wrong with her, and damn it she is back.  Sam is the male hand that grabbed Grace who is freaked out by the voice she heard.. Macho Sam insists on looking around, Grace is scared.

Sheridan FF

We are now at the Lopez-Fitzgerald house and Theresa is still drilling Luis about Ethan and finds out that he was with Gwen, who she worries will “trap” him into marriage.  Luis tells her that she is starting at Burger Hut tomorrow morning and she scoffs at the idea.  He calls her a Princess.  She is.  He and Miguel head out to play basket ball and Theresa wonders where Ethan is to take her away from all of this.  GIRL you need to have better dreams than just marriage

Ethan goes home where he tell Pilar what happened and says he met a nutty crazy girl, and she assures him people are kind.  They get a phone call about Sheridan and her Paris accident, he will wait to tell his parents but will send Gwen there who is on her way to Paris.  Ethan has a flashback which involves Sheridan/Diane – stupid shit.  I forgot how many flashbacks are in this show.  This one was important to that story but really quite stupid because it was that story.  The only part I get from it, is Ethan and Sheridan really love each other and want the best for each other.

Sheridan, this part is the worst because here they have Princess Diana talk to Sheridan while she is in the same hospital in Paris where Diana died after crashing in the same tunnel after being chased by photographers… yeah FF through the WORST story in daytime television EVER, and that is saying something.  I LOATHE this story line.

TC and Eve discuss Grace and her amnesia, and wonder if she is starting to remember.  Sam found NOTHING in the school and asks Grace who she was talking to, and she says she heard a voice.  He tells her Eve told him about the little girl.  She says it isn’t my imagination.. this becomes a refrain I am sure of it.  Angel girls says she will be back for her

Okay, I totally HATE Jessica now, and Simone is completely boring.  Kay hasn’t quite gotten revved up yet, but I know it is coming.  I am bored with the is Grace crazy part and can’t wait to get to the better stuff.  It is actually a bit painful watching the first episodes over again.  I KNOW all the backstory and they keep telling it to me.  I do love how quickly the show established certain relationships..

Luis is the boss of his little siblings and he loves his mom.  He HATES the Cranes because of some past grudge and he thinks his boss is giving them special treatment because they have so much money.

Sam loves his wife and is worried sick about her.

Grace is nuts and very afraid

Tabitha is an eavesdropper who has big plans for Grace, taking her soul is my guess

Whitney is Theresa’s BFF who is working hard to become a tennis player at the Olympics and is very disapproving and down on Theresa’s grandiose dreams.

Kay is determined to have Miguel as hers and he is oblivious.  Simone is just there for Kay to narrate her thoughts to, but they are BFF’s.  Jessica is a HUGE brat and I can’t stand her already.. she exists to torture Kay and thwart her.

Ethan is reluctant to marry Gwen who can’t stop dropping the hints and downright saying how desperate she is for the proposal.  He thinks Theresa is crazy, but has no idea that she is Pilar’s daughter.

Theresa is a girl who has grandiose dreams and when she meet Ethan – she doesn’t make a good impression at all.

TC and Eve seem to be perfect so far and he has ambitions for their daughter and wishes Simone was more focused.

Sheridan – she is Ethan’s aunt who is unlucky in love enough said because this story SUCKS really bad.

There you have it!!

Passions Episode 2

Passions Episode 2

We open up the carnival and TC is issuing instructions to Kay and Simone Jessica is going to help her mom so she’ll be over here – where she can eavesdrop on her sister.  I don’t like Jessica much right now, she’s a bratty little sister who seems intent on ruining her sister’s life.  Kay and Simone are so thirsty (they don’t want to work – they want to socialize and scheme for crying out loud).  Sam shows up and volunteers time to TC – they reminisce about their HS days a little.. this is really set up for the book and future story.  TC is the HS coach, but I forget if they mention what he coaches??

Whitney give Theresa her first disapproving look!!  GAH I didn’t miss all her Debbie downing on Theresa’s dreams or THAT look.  Ethan and Gwen on the beach with Luis, who decides to arrest the snotty Ethan Crane.

Sheridan FF (this story sucks, if you want to watch it go ahead.  I am not)

Eve and Grace are still in the kitchen and Eve is worried about Grace and reminds us all she is a DR and Grace’s friend.  Grace reassures her that she is fine, and then the hallucination of the little girl appears.. NO she cries.. this is just too much melodrama really.  UGH

PASSIONS SONG!!

Theresa and Whitney at the Carnival – and talk about how Theresa hasn’t even met Ethan but she doesn’t care and is going to marry him.  Luis is on the beach threatening to arrest Ethan Crane and Gwen Hotchkiss, and Ethan thinks Luis must be new to town and tries to use the Crane name AGAIN.  Gwen snottily says she will have to cancel her flight to Paris.

Sheridan FF

Kay and Simone talk about her crush but they still don’t mention who it is, and try to find a place to hide from their dad’s so they don’t have to work.  Jessica the brat vows to find out who the mystery boy is.

TC and Sam talk about Grace and TC assures Sam that Eve will figure it all out.  Meanwhile in Grace’s kitchen she hallucinates the little girl again and passes OUT.  I totally forgot all about THIS stuff.

Next door we meet Tabitha Lennox passed out snoring on her couch! She awakes with a start.. danger danger.  AH I REALLY missed her!!

Grace’s kitchen, she tells Eve she saw a little girl in the window, but Eve doesn’t see her.  Grace has to talk to her.. and Eve says she will look.  She sees the bushes wiggle and says AHA

Back at the carnival Whitney tells Theresa she can’t marry a man she hasn’t even met.. hasn’t she heard of mail order brides?  He wouldn’t marry YOU says Whit, and she points out their vast class differences.  The Cranes are royalty, they don’t marry commoners like us.  Theresa is the most optimistic girl – she is JUST a girl on the planet.

Gwen and Ethan get dressed and she can already tell that this cop doesn’t like the Cranes.  Sam radios Luis and says come to the carnival to go over security, and Luis mentions that he has to bring ETHAN CRANE to the station first – Chief Sam poo poos the idea and says let them go.  Luis is sure it is special treatment for the Cranes.  Luis and Ethan get into it a little when Luis tells them to scram he isn’t going to arrest them.  They have to get make to the Crane Mansion so Gwen can shower and change.  They remind us that Ethan has work to do and is going to miss Gwen while he is in Paris, visiting his Aunt Sheridan

Sheridan  FF

Eve sees a hand in the bushes, it’s Tabitha, who says she is pruning Grace’s hedge to be neighborly.  She says she has been out there for a while, and Eve asks her if she has seen a little girl.. Tabitha says no.  Have a nice day Dr. Russell.  Oh, we find out that Tabitha is going to get that little girl and she spouts some witchy stuff.

Kay and Simone discuss if the beep was from MIGUEL or not, and Jess overhears.

Miguel and Pilar, he tells her about his job application.  She wants him to save his money for college and he wants to help her.  I forgot how GOOD Miguel really is, and it makes me feel a little bad knowing what happens later.  BUT I love Kay anyways.  They discuss Luis hating the Cranes and Pilar says he has to get over that nothing was ever proven.. oooh a mystery. Miguel tells his mama that Luis got Theresa a job at the Burger Hut.

Theresa tells Whitney that she had a dream that Ethan showed up on her doorstep and changed her life forever and that is why she believes she is going to marry him!  She is so naive and her dreams are so small really.  Luis does want her to save herself, but she thinks a man will save her.  UGH soap operas are fucked up!!  Anyways..Whitney says Luis would lock her up in the attic if a Crane showed up and wanted to marry her.  Theresa “forgot” about Luis hating the Cranes.. that’s frankly unbelievable right??

Gwen and Ethan are at the Crane mansion and she says well the Cranes have made some enemies.. then they go shower together.. UGH

Sheridan in Paris FF this is so stupid!!  Paparazzi stalking her.. she is going to die like Diana.. UGH

Eve checks Grace’s pulse which is racing, and won’t let Grace go anywhere and tells Grace she found Tabitha in her hedges and she didn’t see her either.  Grace says Tabitha is eccentric but at least she isn’t hallucinating.  They discuss Grace being so busy and that must be why Grace thinks she saw a real little girl.  Tabitha is under the window eavesdropping and says oh she was real alright.

Jessica the turd paints a sign that “Kay loves Miguel” but Kay doesn’t see it.. they fight and make threats.. blah blah Oh look there’s Miguel and Kay notices him.

Sam knows Luis’s feelings about the Cranes and warns him to not mess with them because life is easier when you don’t?  Sam tells him to take a break and they will discuss security later.  TC reminds Sam he used to feel the same way about the Cranes and wonders if he has mellowed in his old age.. WOW is that a setup for some future story.

Gwen and Ethan discuss Harmony and how separate the Cranes don’t interact with the locals and discuss going to the Hamburger joint – oooh isn’t Theresa getting a job there.  She is DIGGING for a future with Ethan.  She tells him to know both sides of Harmony before deciding to stay separate from the citizens.. and UGH they do it AGAIN  Jesus

Sheridan FF

Grace and Eve – Eve wants her to rest, and get some tests run, but Grace says she is fine and she didn’t see a little girl – she was tired and it was just her mind playing tricks on her.  Eve asks her if she has ever seen the little girl before, and we have our very first flashback, but Grace says NO I haven’t seen her before (liar) and we find out that Grace can’t remember the first 20 years of her life.  Tabitha is listening and predicts the little girl WILL affect Grace’s future

Kay still thinks maybe Miguel is her secret admirer, and she admires his body and says he is so nice.  Simone notices the little brat’s sign, which Kay tears down and threatens to KILL Jessica.

Luis comes across Miguel and says he hasn’t talked to Theresa yet – he has other stuff to do right now.

Whitney poo poos Theresa’s dreams and says I don’t want to see you hurt.. maybe Ethan is an ass she says.  Theresa says her mama loves Ethan and he was a sad boy and she just loves him, he is her future.  She doesn’t know and she doesn’t care about the old grudge Luis carries.

Gwen and Ethan – They discuss Sheridan’s horrible love life and how she gets hurt and let’s get dressed.  She says Ethan is only going to go part way to the airport with her she has a surprise for him.

Sheridan in Paris FF

Eve and Grace show up the carnival where Sam greets her, he is worried and she says she is fine. She goes off to talk to someone and Sam tells Eve to tell him what is wrong.

There is a brief Luis and Miguel conversation and Miguel can’t believe Theresa is going to work at Burger Hut.. oh she will proclaims Luis, it’s time she gets her head out of the clouds

TC tells Whitney and Theresa he wants them to paint because they need signs.  Theresa is wearing her new outfit and doesn’t want to paint, so she takes a break.  She wants to wear that outfit the first time Ethan sees her.. And we see Ethan and Gwen pull into the carnival.  Ethan realizes it’s part of Gwen’s plan for him to get to know the locals.. go meet the neighbors.  There’s no telling what wonderful adventures waiting for you in Harmony she says as she hops in the Limo to go to Paris.  Cut back to Whit and Theresa, and Luis rips her magazine out of her hands..he isn’t impressed that she is interested in Ethan Crane and his life..

Sheridan FF

We are in Tabitha’s house and see Timmy parts.  She is doing a tarot reading and likes it.  🙂  That little girl isn’t going to beat Tabitha, not this time.  She talks to the Timmy parts and assures that she has something powerful and special this time.. angel girl appears and says she won’t win.  Tabitha says she will win, but angel girl says she won’t steal their souls this time.  Tabitha shows her the death card and promises their souls are hers.  Angel girl will be back and this time Tabitha will be ready and she will have their souls.  YAY!!

Well episode two lays more back story and sets up more future story.  I find myself rooting for Tabitha and against Grace simply because I can’t stand the fear Grace is showing.  It’s actually quite pathetic and I am already rooting for Tabitha to win over Grace.  I am not evil, I just can’t stand Grace already.  You have to suspend belief to watch this show anyways.. it is full of magic and mayhem.  I still hate Sheridan’s story and am refusing to watch it.  I forgot what a bitch Jessica is, and why I rooted for Kay.  Simone is boring right now.  I also forgot how unrealistic Theresa really is, but I still hate Whitney’s disapproving look.  It started in episode two and doesn’t end when it comes to Theresa and her dreams.  Theresa is in HS for pity’s sake and I have no idea why I first bought into the idea that Ethan should be with her.. except that it is OBVIOUSLY set up already as a triangle with her and Gwen pulling at Ethan.  I can’t wait to see Timmy alive.  He was so awesome.

Passions Episode 1

Passions Episode 1

The first thing we see is some very gorgeous outdoor shots of Harmony, which to this Mainer means seeing shots of Camden, the sweetest little town on the coast.  I recognized the library and the park for sure..

We meet Luis and Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, Luis is in a Police uniform driving a jeep through town, they are headed to the docks when they come across the Crane gardener.  We learn immediately that their Mama cleans their house, and Luis has better dreams for his little brother Miguel than working for the Cranes.

We learn that Sheridan Crane doesn’t live in Harmony, but in Paris.  Cut to Paris and the very sad but beautiful Sheridan Crane.  I hate this story line.  I skipped the first few episodes scenes with her.  This reminded me why I hated Sheridan from day 1.  James E. Reilly thought that capitalizing on Princess Diana’s death would be a good idea and went so far as to make them friends.  GAG, I hated it the first time around, and I hate it worse this time.

Ethan Crane and Gwen Hotchkiss are introduced next, on the beach getting it on.  YUCK, but they talk about local girls being jealous of her being with Ethan.. cut to Whitney and her dad TC Russell playing tennis while her BFF Theresa sits “watching”.  Theresa is looking at a picture of Ethan and Gwen speculating when they will get married.. NEVER she says.  Hmm.. good foreshadowing here.

ANGEL GIRL, I forgot about her too.. but she makes her appearance here in Grace Bennet’s bedroom, while her two daughters are setting up their rivalry and hatred downstairs fighting over a BEEPER.. that was a throwback!!  Beepers??  Sam their dad tries to prevent their fighting while Simone Russell tries to ignore it!  Sam is worried because Grace is tired and overworked right now and he wants them to let her rest!  So this is Kay #1, Jessica #1, and Simone #1 – all of these roles were played by multiple actresses as I recall.  I don’t like Jessica #1.

THEN comes the song.. I knew ALL the words!!  I was proud of that!

Sheridan – sorry but I am FF through this right now, but it did remind me that this show is really religious, and that did make me laugh as I am NOT.

Ethan and Gwen on the beach some more, and she starts really laying it on about the local girls and laying background for Ethan’s story – he was never in Harmony growing up, and Gwen says that there are probably a lot of would be Cinderella’s dreaming of Prince Charming right now – cut to Theresa who says Gwen is so ugly and rips Ethan out of her glossy magazine.

Eve shows up and her and TC talk about Whitney, their daughter, becoming an Olympian, and they mention Grace who we go right to.  She is in bed, and Angel Girl is trying to warn her of danger.  Grace has some major anxiety and it is kinda campy how afraid she is.

Sheridan FF – watch it yourself to see how bad this storyline is, but I am not wasting my time this time.  Later on I will start watching her storyline, but if you did watch the show.. just know that I liked her ending before you read what I say later on about shit that happens to her, okay??

Gwen and Ethan on the beach.  We learn he is studying for the bar exam and that Julian (Ethan’s father) is 18 years older than his sister Sheridan Crane.  Ethan loves her alot and misses her.  Gwen tries to convince him to go to Paris with him.  He says Harmony is boring and she tells him to get to know the town.. and he says maybe he will meet one of the lusty Cinderella’s who are dying to meet him – cut to

Theresa and Whitney – Theresa disparages Gwen (who she has never met) and they talk about their very different dreams.. Theresa’s ONLY dream is to have nice things and marry Ethan Crane (whom she has never met).  She will be rich.. maybe sooner than Whitney thinks

TC and Eve talk about Simone and her moodiness and Whitney’s drive.  They set up the next scene when Eve says she is going to go rescue Simone from the Bennett’s family morning!

Sam is still trying to stop the girls from fighting.. and we find out Kay has a secret admirer and her and Simone give each other a look and wonder if it is.. but don’t mention the name… ah the suspense who could it be??  Ethan, Luis, Miguel (they are all we have met so far that aren’t related or old enough to be her father or her father).  Sam says to Kay that she knows he has to meet any boys right??  Jessica tauts her and says she will tell any boy that Kay does breast exercises.. I must I must I must increase my bust.. and Angel Girl upstairs says wake up Grace, who’s there.. the acting is kinda terrible.. sorry.

Luis and Miguel – NOW they are in the Jeep on the beach – you get a serious feeling that Luis hates the Cranes and doesn’t understand why his mom still works for them.  Luis hints at something ominous and Miguel says it was never proven.. what could it be?  I know we will find out more as time goes on.. and I do know.. hahaha  Luis HATES those Cranes.

Ethan and Gwen on the beach he is rubbing her feet.. no wonder she wants to marry him, right??  She says he should get to know his kingdom, the Cranes have been here 300 years, right?  🙂  We find out the Cranes own the town businesses and industry.  Ethan knows there is more to her wanting him to get to know the town, and we see just HOW BADLY she wants to be Mrs. Crane.  I start off liking her honest.  He builds a fire and they discuss Sheridan

Sheridan – FF

Grace wakes up and tries to find the little girl, and finds Sam – we get the start of the “Grace is crazy” storyline she sees the little girl and no one else can.  She goes to make breakfast

Sheridan FF

Gwen and Ethan on the beach and she warns him about the sign NO fires on the beach arrest/fine possible, he says he can afford the fine and besides what officer would arrest someone for that.

The cop Luis is on the beach in the Jeep still.. haha yeah it’s coming.  Luis and Miguel talk about summer jobs for Miguel and Theresa who Luis has gotten a job to try to kill her dreams of being a socialite

Theresa and Whitney discuss Theresa and her “news” and Eve worries about TC who is obviously limping.. Theresa says her news is about a boy and their future together.

Kay and Jessica discuss the message and who it might be.  Jessica tries to get Simone to tell her but she won’t they insult each other.  Grace doesn’t seem to notice.  Then she says “Girls”.  Jessica thinks it’s strange that Grace doesn’t care about Kay’s admirer.  Sam is the new chief of police – making him Luis boss obviously. Grace assures Sam that she is FINE. We see angel girls light upstairs in Grace and Sam’s bedroom.  Sam thanks the girls for volunteering at the Carnival.. Grace is in charge and TC is in charge of volunteers.  More sibling rivalry, and Sam answers the door to Eve.  Hi Eve.  Hi Sam.  Congratulations.. thanks.  They discuss the Bennett girls and Sam tells Eve that he is worried about Grace, who is also a Dr. She says there is a lot going on and he worries Grace isn’t telling him something.

Luis and Miguel see the fire on the dune, Miguel says oh it’s just Sr’s celebrating (it’s freaking JULY dude) graduation.  Luis admits that he did the same and Miguel calls him a straight arrow – He is.. he ALSO has a huge stick up his ass about the Cranes.  Miguel gets out with a warning to tell Theresa he wants to talk to her.  Time to break up the party says Luis.

Gwen and Ethan – OMG she already is really pushing for a RING – Ethan tells Gwen to find Sheridan in Paris and check out her new boyfriend – he is avoiding matrimony.

Sheridan FF

We are at the Carnival now, and TC tells Whitney and Theresa to set up folding chairs or they could shuck clams.. chairs it is.  They run into Miguel and try to get him to set up the chairs, but he has to go apply for a job, and he tells Theresa Luis wants to see her and that she will need more luck than him.  She asks where he is so he can avoid her.. on the beach going to break up some kids on the dunes with a fire, and she pities those kids. I am chuckling.  Whitney asks Theresa her secret, which is.. I’m getting married to Ethan Crane, and Luis rides up on the beach to Ethan and Gwen.  Ethan has an attitude and tries to use his name to keep him out of trouble.  Luis is not impressed

Sheridan FF

Sam is going to drive the girls to the carnival, conveniently leaving Grace and Eve alone.  Grace is unusually quiet and Eve lets her know Sam is worried about her and even Eve thinks something is going on.  Grace Grace says the angel girl, evil is coming!

All right, so Passions had great racial diversity for a daytime show.  There are the rich and powerful Cranes (Caucasian), the poor Lopez-Fitzgerald’s (Hispanic), and the middle class Russell’s (African-American). The first episodes are a lot of groundwork laying, and having watched it once.. some of it is a little obvious and slightly painful to see the second time around.. I KNOW how they are connected to one another already.  I already KNOW more of the background story than they are even showing here due to Hidden Passions the book that was marketed as part of the show.  I HAD forgotten how quickly they established the supernatural elements and the heavy Catholic presence in the show right from the beginning.  There is actually NO camp in this first episode, but I do know it is coming.  I remembered why I hate Sheridan right away.  I hated her from day one because of the Princess Diana story line.  I also forgot how quickly I came to dislike Gwen when in episode one she is ALREADY pushing for a ring.. although to be fair she and Ethan have been a couple for a long time.  So far, I am enjoying my second viewing of Passions!

I recently started re-watching my FAVORITE soap opera Passions.  I really loved the show and watched from day 1, although I do admit to missing large chunks of watching it and having to read summaries.. so this should be an interesting journey watching this again.

I hope you love my 2nd impressions of Passions and the citizens of Harmony!
